Looking to make up some ground in the play-off chase, Eastleigh will welcome Boreham Wood to the Silverlake Stadium on Tuesday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Eastleigh might have signed off October in the midst of a minor rut, the Spitfires have come roaring back in some style. Last seen over the weekend putting in another eye-catching performance as they secured a 2-1 victory at home against Altrincham, Richard Hill’s side will certainly be looking to make another statement here. Extending on their FA Cup adventure earlier in the month as they stormed their way to a stunning 5-1 romp against Tuesday’s guests, the Hampshire-based outfit should also be excited by their continued success on home soil. In fact, along with claiming a thumping 3-1 win when they welcomed York City to the Silverlake Stadium last month, Eastleigh have won six of their previous seven showdowns in front of their own supporters a run that stems back to a 2-2 draw against Oxford on September 19th. Finding a clinical edge in the final third and notching eight strikes in their last three contests against National League outfits, Hill’s side should be smelling an opportunity here.
As for the visitors, crashing out of the FA Cup on November 4th thanks to that infamous 5-1 drumming at the Silverlake Stadium, Boreham Wood find themselves in the midst of a real struggle. Although Luke Garrard’s side might have opened up the 2023/24 campaign with their sights set on punching another play-off ticket, the Hertfordshire-based outfit are firmly looking over their shoulder at a looming relegation scrap. Holding just a two-point buffer from slipping into the drop zone, Boreham Wood have recorded just a single win from any of their previous six showdowns against National League clubs. With that extended rut stemming back to October 14th, Garrard’s side have also gained a reputation for their rather glaring issues on the road. Including a 2-1 loss at the hands of Dorking last week, the Wood have secured just one away victory from any of their last six contests away from Meadow Park. Blown away when they travelled to Hampshire while on FA Cup duties earlier in the month, a similar home win can be found at appealing odds.
