Rogers, Bergvall, Dahoud & Santos: The Premier League Deadline Day Transfers That You Might Have Missed

With the likes of and Everton dealing with their own respective financial issues, many of the Premier League’s elite were tight with their spending during January’s transfer window.

With all of the 20 Premier League clubs only spending a tally of £100million, that is the lowest overall figure since the COVID-restricted window of January 2021.

However, although there might not have been too much excitement during Thursday’s Deadline Day, the likes of Chelsea striker did manage to secure a late loan switch to west London rivals Fulham.

With January’s transfer window now officially closed for another year, we have taken a look at some of the Premier League Deadline Day deals that you might have missed.

Morgan Rogers (Middlesbrough Aston Villa)

With still dreaming of the chance to book a famous Champions League ticket this season, Unai Emery made it clear that he was keen on adding reinforcements during January’s transfer window.

Although it appeared at some points that the ex-Arsenal boss might have missed out on his number-one target, Villa did eventually snap up signature on Deadline Day.

The 21-year-old has continued to shine as one of the Championship’s most promising starlets this season and has scored seven goals and added a further nine assists in his 33 second-tier appearances.

Although Middlesbrough might have been desperate to keep hold of the one-time Manchester City schoolboy, Michael Carrick’s side will receive £8m plus add-ons which may rise to £15m.

Happy to join this amazing club. Can’t wait to get started and play in front of you fans!! UTV

Lucas Bergvall (Djurgarden Tottenham)

Although it might have appeared for large spells of January’s transfer window that was set for a blockbuster move to Spanish giants Barcelona, Tottenham completed a real Deadline Day hijack.

Electing to make the move to north London on Thursday afternoon, the 17-year-old has signed a five-year deal with Spurs and has been considered a real scalp for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

Enjoying a breakout campaign with Swedish outfit Djurgarden after making 25 top-flight appearances, Bergvall has already earned a full senior call-up on the international stage and is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young midfielders.

With eventually completing a Deadline Day swoop that saw them pay a fee in the region of £8.5million, it is expected that Bergvall will be immediately thrown into Postecoglou’s first-team squad.

Mahmoud Dahoud (Brighton Stuttgart)

Although there might have been much excitement around the Amex last summer as arrived on the south coast, the 28-year-old has drastically struggled to find a regular spot in Roberto De Zerbi’s first-team plans.

While the Germany international might have signed a bumped four-year deal ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, Dahoud has started just six Premier League games since completing his Premier League move.

Not making a single top-flight appearance since Brighton’s 1-1 stalemate against Burnley back on December 9th, the former Borussia Dortmund star has made an almost immediate return to Germany.

Joining chasers Stuttgart for the remainder of the season, Die Roten currently sit third in the Bundesliga standings and it is believed they have inserted a buy option in Dahoud’s loan switch.

Mo Dahoud has joined on loan for the rest of the season.

Good luck,!

Andrey Santos (Chelsea Strasbourg)

While Andrey Santos might have only arrived at Nottingham Forest on a loan switch at the beginning of the 2023/24 campaign, the 29-year-old is already set for a new adventure over the coming months.

Managing to make just a pair of appearances for Forest across all competitions so far this season, the Brazil U21 international completed a Deadline Day move to French outfit .

Le Racing are also owned by the duo of Todd Boehly and Behdad Egbahli, and the co-owners bought a majority stake in the club back in June 2023.

Fellow Brazilian ace Angelo, a summer signing from Santos, is also on loan at the Ligue 1 side, who are managed by former Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira.

Andrey Santos has joined French club RC Strasbourg on loan until the end of the season.
