Juventus 2-4 Inter Milan: Three Things We Learned

Another Coppa Italia campaign is officially in the books after the final went down at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome last night. The encounter proved to be as dramatic as you d expect with a whole lot of talking points and six goals, with Inter Milan being the side to raise the trophy at the end of the evening.

Their 4-2 triumph was pretty special to watch and along the way, we picked up on a few things that encapsulated what went down in the final.

Comeback grit

Despite going 1-0 up after just six minutes and having a lot of strong moments throughout the game, Inter went into the last quarter of an hour needing a goal just to take it through to extra time. Thankfully for them they managed to find that goal, and after digging so deep to claw their way back into proceedings, there was only one way it was going to go with two strikes in ET showcasing their grit.

Juve s heart falls short

It s official Juventus will end the season without a piece of silverware to their name. This was hardly a season to remember for the Old Lady but there was still a glimmer of hope for them that they d be able to edge past Inter and they almost did, putting up stern resistance after scoring twice in quick succession to initially take the lead. Now, in the summer transfer window, they need to do some serious soul-searching.

Big boost for Inter

Inter Milan won the Coppa Italia on Wednesday for the first time since 2011, which is a pretty surprising stat given their status as one of the biggest clubs in Italian and world football. Alas, none of that matters now as they continue to hold court as a force to be reckoned with on the domestic front, which is the mentality they need to bring with them as they chase AC Milan down in the final few games of the Serie A title race.
